Below, we explore the editor’s recent upgrades designed to simplify workflows and elevate editing accuracy.

* For the main features review of the version 1 please follow this link – https://www.solveigmm.com/blog/en/html5-video-editor-release

Multiselection

The multiselection feature allows editors to handle multiple clips or assets at once, enabling collective actions such as dragging, deleting, and copying across the timeline. This streamlined functionality is especially useful for handling complex projects efficiently, as it reduces repetitive individual asset adjustments.

The tool is exactly what it sounds like. We just need to click and drag to select as many assets on the timeline as we need.

Ripple Trim and Ripple Delete

With Ripple Trim, editors can shorten segments without disrupting the timeline structure; it automatically adjusts subsequent elements to maintain continuity. Similarly, Ripple Delete removes selected clips and closes gaps, making it easy to maintain smooth transitions without manual repositioning.

For this tool we need to use hotkeys (user is able to customize it) – by default:

T – ripple delete (click on asset to ripple delete)

Q – ripple trim previous (to the left from the playhead)

W – ripple trim next (to the right from the playhead)

HLS Support

The editor now supports HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) links both TS and fMP4, enabling users to directly ingest and work with live-streamed content. This feature is invaluable for broadcast professionals and content creators working with streaming media, as it allows importing and playback of pre-recorded HLS archives and editing and effortless MP4 export without full re-encoding.

HLS examples can be found here:

MXF Support and Native File Playback

For industry-grade projects, the editor provides MXF file support, including compatibility with XDCAM and XAVC formats. The Smart Rendering option retains the original file properties and metadata ensuring output fidelity. Native File Playback mode further enhances efficiency by allowing MXF ingesting and editing without generating proxies, delivering real-time performance without intermediate file creation.

The editor is highly adaptable for brand integration, allowing modification of logos, color schemes, button functions, tooltips, and even language localization. This customization makes the HTML5 editor ideal for businesses requiring white-label solutions that fit seamlessly into their existing systems.

Trim Edges

Trim Edges is an intuitive tool for precision editing, letting users cut out the start and end frames of clips by dragging the edges. This feature is ideal for making exact timing adjustments, delivering a cleaner, professional look to the finished product without impacting the main content.

Simple as it sounds – just drag that edge.

React Component Integration

For developers, the HTML5 video editor can be integrated as a React component, simplifying the embedding of video editing capabilities into applications. This modular structure makes it highly versatile for use in custom-built platforms and web applications, catering to various development needs.

Chroma Key

With the Chroma Key feature, users can apply green screen effects, adding new backgrounds seamlessly. This feature supports real-time background replacement, helping creators produce visually dynamic content without intensive post-production steps. Two modes of rendering are available: CPU and GPU. GPU produces a mixing of better quality. It is enabled by request, please contact us.

!! Please keep in mind that you can’t use this function with MXF files on the timeline.

Chroma Key

How to use Chroma Key:

  • Put the source footage below the clip with a chroma key area
  • Click the Chroma Key button to activate it
  • Pick/choose a color of chroma key area
  • Adjust settings for your need

Stock Image Library

Integrated stock image libraries offer quick access to images, streamlining the process of sourcing and adding high-quality visuals directly into the timeline. This allows editors to enhance their projects without leaving the editing interface, saving time and ensuring a cohesive visual experience. Now we offer an integration of two main stock image libraries – Unspalsh and Pexels, which allow you to use images for free.

Go to the search field and type what you’re looking for, choose a library (Pexels, Unsplash or Native images) and you’ll get a bunch of results. Simply drag and drop it on your timeline or click the “+” icon in the top right corner of the image.

HEVC Support for MP4

Full HEVC (high-efficiency video coding) compatibility ensures that MP4 files are handled efficiently, enabling playback and rendering without proxy encoding. This feature is particularly beneficial for large-scale projects requiring high-quality compression, maintaining both quality and storage efficiency.

Desktop Edition

The editor also offers a desktop version for both Windows and Mac users, which enhances editing speed by bypassing the need for file uploads. This option is perfect for users working with large media files, providing a smooth, uninterrupted workflow on local hardware.
