Please try to use beta version available from this link:
http://www.solveigmm.com/download/SolveigMM_HyperCam_3_5_Beta.exe

Have you maybe some user account restrictions? Do you have administrator rights? 
What is your OS? Do you have Windows XP?

Try to create new folder and select it in HyperCam settings (Video -> Output folder). Will it help you?

Hello if someone can help me it would be greatly appreciated

I was going to record some game-play with hypercam 3. I selected the screen area and hit record but when i hit record a message box came up saying "Please enter correct output folder"
I don't know what it means but that but i want to record my game play with some friends so please help!
All settings are default and i have tried to re-install the program and it went fine but the output folder error keeps coming up.
I have only started using HyperCam 3 on my new laptop today but had it working fine on my previous one. Please help.
