Video Splitter / Re: Video lags audio after edits

Olga,

You're welcome. Thank you for the update and for the subtitle tip. So my workaround until your fix is made will be to merge the external edited SRT file and make it internal ahead of running the project. This will work fine.

Olga,

I no longer have that project file. So instead I have uploaded another set of files for you that includes the project file. This one was even worse, with video in the edited file lagging audio by 800ms by the end of the video. In saving the new file after editing, I include the video file, the audio file and the external SRT subtitle file. I reran the project just before uploading the folder for you and the results were the same as before.

My edits are primarily to take out language and video that is inappropriate for family and younger viewers, i.e. 'f' words, the word god when it appears before damn, nudity and sexual material. I use the latest video splitter version on a Windows 11 Pro desktop computer. The link to the new folder is https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1BOgOkGmI-VV6V5214imWSyfxGpiNnA56?usp=sharing.

Olga,

Original and edited video segments chosen as an example have been uploaded in a Audio Sync Issue folder. Note the audio is in sync throughout the original segment but is only in sync at the beginning of the edited segment. The folder has been shared with anyone with the link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1opgyHbn02v0kKvJMkfW8-W9Lnkv-iu0u?usp=sharing

Video Splitter / Video lags audio after edits
« on: January 27, 2025, 01:17:29 PM »
I'm having trouble lately with video lagging audio by 100 to 500ms or even more sometimes after making multiple edits. These lags can appear after any edit, from early in the project to later on. As a result I'm often forced to extract the audio and edit it after finding mis-sync points and add in noise to resync the tracks. This is using the latest version of Video Splitter.

The new beta seems to have solved the problem.
Thank you, Max.

Hi Max.

I thought I granted access to everyone with a link yesterday. Don't know why it didn't work but I've done it again so hopefully it will work for you now.

Also, a little more information. Some video files require me to actually trim a section of the video and click the hide arrows before the subtitles disappear so it varies a little bit and I have no idea why.

I'm using version 8.0.2403.26 running on Windows 11 Pro.

Thank you,
Dwight

Olga,

Here is a Hypercam sample: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1nGtCAnWSZPYSL6ChrJVsPUnP2UyumKNX

Note that the video file initially shows the external subtitles as I scroll through the on-screen timeline. But when the cursor is moved back near the beginning of the segment and the play button is clicked the subtitles disappear.

The only way to bring them back that I have found is to delete and then reload the video. But then the same thing happens again. However as I said before if I merge the video and subtitle files into one single file this problem does not occur.

Thanks,
Dwight

I did. Please let me know if you are still unable to access them.

Hi Olga,

Yes, this occurs in the latest version (8.0.2403.26). When the file is first loaded the external subtitles show, but as soon as an edit is done they disappear. If the saved project is loaded, the subtitles appear briefly but then disappear. Here is your link to the uploaded files: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RHcQp7u_Kg0i7DqB0d9mi6gzhuT7nvhw. This file is only an example of what occurs frequently with other files I have recently edited. If I use MKVToolnix and combine the files, the (internal) subtitles continue to show in the preview window during editing.

Thank you,
Dwight

In version 8, after loading a MKV video and selecting streams for preview and trimming, including its external subtitle, the external subtitle does not show in the preview screen.

How do you get the subtitles to show while editing videos in the latest Video Editor program?

I'm still having to use ver 6.1.1707.19 because of the subtitle sync problem. I just tried the latest 64-bit version yesterday and it still has the same problem. I use the video splitter to edit vulgar language and video out of movie files, but the latest versions cannot keep the subtitles in sync after editing. I complained about this 2 years ago, uploaded files that were checked by your staff, and after the problem was duplicated I was told I would be contacted by email when a fix was made. The problem was never fixed and still exists in the version just released.
