SolveigMM AVI Trimmer / Re: AVI Trimmer - Useful, but not 100%
« on: September 11, 2008, 09:04:35 AM »
Hi James,

Thank you for so detailed post.

I don't think you deal with the software bug, probably the GOP stucture of our AVI is quite long but AVI trimmer operate in k-Frame accuracy mode. read more about  this behaviour here - http://www.solveigmm.com/forum/index.php?topic=2331.msg5881#msg5881

If you sure this is a bug, just cut small part of you video an upload to us for examination.
Currently we are implementing smart frame accurate editinng mode for AVI and WMV's (for MPEG-2 it is has been already made) that will only re-encode part of GOP, so keep an eye on the news.

As for open source, to be honest i don't fully undersnad all the pro and contras, may be in future we put all the sources to SourceForge bu i can't say exactly if it happens.

SolveigMM Video Editing SDK / Re: Using Mux Filter
« on: September 05, 2008, 05:51:40 PM »
Hello David,

Thank you for contacting us.

Yes, SMMASF_2006_03_02.zip is quite old and was not updated for a long time, so it is likely it does not support IModuleConfig interface.
The recent version of the ASF Muxer is supplied with SolveigMM Video Splitter - http://www.solveigmm.com/?Products&id=VideoSplitter

So, don't hesitate to ask any question you have.

Hi Philebus,
So can you try to temporary uninstall the codec pack to ensure it causes the problem?

Preview does not operate
Q:->I get this message when I add a file to the software "Cannot find video decoder for preview (XVID), but trimming should be OK" What do I need to do to fix this problem?
A:->This message caused by an absence of XVID or whatever decoder on your PC. If you download and install it, preview should get started to work.
You can download the necessary codec at the link below:

Video Splitter / Inaccurate Splitting
« on: September 01, 2008, 05:48:12 AM »
Inaccurate Splitting

Q:->The start time does not coincide with the assumed begin time; its off by 5 to 10 seconds sometimes. The end time is perfectly correct. What may cause this inaccuracy?
A:-> Such a behaveour can be encountered with SolveigMM AVI Trimmer, SolveigMM WMP Trimmer Plugin, SolveigMM Video Splitter

These products operate with K-Frame accuracy for AVI,WMV,ASF files.
Video sequence encoded usually consists of groups of pictures (GOP). GOP consists of Key frame (that is first one in GOP) and delta frames. Key frame is encoded independently as a statical picture but delta frames are predicted from K frame and can't be decoded without K frame.

Thus to provide a user with fast and a video quality lossless video editing, our products fulfill trimming tasks with K Frame accuracy.
That means that all output fragments will be started with K frame as depicted below.

Video Splitter / Re: SolveigMM Video Splitter MPG-1 Support, PLEASE!?
« on: September 01, 2008, 03:37:30 AM »
yes we got your second message and replied for that. Thank you for the help!

Heh no problem man. I had another question too and forgot to ask about it last time. Whats that file that is made from MPG? It has the extention mlmix. Even opened MPG1 file and thought it would work  ;D. Seen the mlmix file for MPG1 as well.

Hi Gonzo,
This is an index file that we place near to MPEG files to avoid next indexation while next time opening of the same MPEG file.
Indexation is necessary to guarantee frame accurate editing, and works for both MPEG-2 and MPEG-1 as MPEG-1 was going to be supported.

Video Splitter / Re: IS THERE AN AUTOMATIC AD DETECTION FUNCTION?
« on: September 01, 2008, 03:32:38 AM »
Greetings,

I stream US Televsion remotely using a Slingbox.  I use At Large Recorder 2,to record the Slingbox streams.  It saves the streams in WMV format.  I need a program that can AUTOMATICALLY DETECT the commercial breaks (fade to black), easily remove the commercials, and re-mux the file without encoding or loss of quality.  Can your program do automatic detecting of commercial breaks?  I do not want to manually look for and find the commercials.  Everything I've seen posted talks about, "Find the commercial yourself and mark the beginning and the end....etc."   VideoReDo Plus can do auto ad detection and it's extremely easy and reliable to use...unfortunately they have no support for anything other than MPEG.

Can your product provide me with what I seek?  Auto-Ad Detection.

Thanks,

Boomstick

Hi Boomstick,

Thank you for the interest to our software.
The feature you ask about in being developed at the present moment and should get available quite soon, pleese keep an eye on the news.

Video Splitter / Re: SolveigMM Video Splitter MPG-1 Support, PLEASE!?
« on: August 28, 2008, 03:36:44 AM »
Dmitry, I am very pleased with this application, as ive been through dozens like this, and your product is 'near' perfect.

Now i say near, because it unfortunately doesnt support MPG-1 and i find that quite strange, because it supports MPG-2. Most MPG files of video people use/download are usually going to be in MPG-1 format. I would surely purchase this application if it could support MPG-1 as soon as possible in a new version. Can you please do this for someone who is pulling their hair out trying to find the perfect splitter?  I really do like it, especially since it doesnt force you to re-encode like most other applications make you do, and i really hate that!  >:(

Also, is it possible you can add support for AVC/x264/h264/MPG-4 and the .MKV (Matroska) container? That would definitely make your product supercharged and perfect. But in any case, i would really appreciate the MPG-1 (as im sure most others would too) support first. I have so many MPG-1 files and i was hoping to use your application to split them up  ;)

Thx for hearing me out and great work on a great product that is so hard to find in this category  8) Honestly, ive literally been up for hours, and went through nearly 20 applications and they all stunk like a particular 4 letter word  ;D

Oh yea, one more thing, i also tried to email on the SUPPORT/CONTACT page where the Splitter is listed, but i got a PHP script error or something  ???

Hello Gonzo,

Thank you for warm comments we do our best with our products to get more pleased responses tather than disapointed.
The Splitter will defenetely support MPEG-1 file; it is hard to say when exactly but may be in one or a couple of months;
H264 editing is also implementing and has to be released in on of further version.
