We are going to add MPEG-4 AVC (H264) to the component.
Now it supports multi-fragmant editing with GOP accuracy of AVI, WMV, ASF files.
Now it is preparig MPEG-2 Frame Accuracy and after that MP4 support is planning to be implemented.

By the way Dmitry, I do have one small issue. The start time does not coincide with the assumed begin time; its off by 5 to 10 seconds sometimes. The end time is perfectly correct. What may cause this inaccuracy?

Hello Roberto,
As you probably know, to provide an user fast and a video quality lossless video trimming, the AVI Trimmer performs trimming tasks with K Frame accuracy.

That means that an output fragment will be started with K frame.
And if K frame time position doesn't coincide with the start time set, the output AVI file lenhgt will consists of a fragment length set plus a time of frames up to previous K Frame.



This feature guarantees you a proper playback of the trimmed AVI file.

Also you can try the full featured version - SolveigMM Video Splitter instead.

Though it is shareware product it hasn't any restriction even after an evaluation perion is expired.

SolveigMM Video Splitter 1.1 beta is available:

Features:
- Supports WMV format
- Supports ASF file format with any video (WMV 1,2,3, MPEG-4 AVC, DivX, etc) and audio (MPEG L. 1,2,3, AC3, WMAudio V 2,7,8, etc) content
- AVI to ASF re-multiplexing (without re-encoding)

Fixes:
- The bug with AVI contained MPEG1 layer 2 audio has been fixed
- The bug with Help calling has been fixed

Changes:
- SolveigMM ASF Multiplexer has been added to package

Restrictions:
- "Size" feature does not operate within WMV/ASF mode, and it is not documented for the present
- WMV/ASF support is not documented for the present

Hello George,

Thank you for your useful features list.
In reality we are collecting users feedback to improve our software.

The next version will support WMV/ASF files but we are going to implement the features mentioned in the forthcoming Splitter versions.

If you know some more features to make users life within video editing more happy we shall be appreciative of your opinion.

SolveigMM AVI Trimmer 1.1 will not execute for most users since it requires MFC71d.dll and MSVCR71d.dll, which are MFC debug DLL’s. Is it possible to repackage the distribution with runtime libraries required for Release build, i.e.MFC71.dll and MSVCR71.dll?

Well, it seems some VFW decoders have some kind of problems.
I have been able to force operate neither ffdshow nor native DIVX 6.0 codecs.

We started to clear up this question in microsoft  microsoft.public.windowsmedia.sdk newsgroup.

In result we have found out that VFW DIVX v 5.1 operates properly within WMP while ASF playing.

Hi John,

In fact ffdshow you have might not be set to decode DIVX.

To set it go to the GraphEdit, insert ffdshow MPEG4 Video decoder.
In "Codecs" page, opposite "DivX3","DivX4","DivX5" format, choose "libavcodec" in "Decoder" combo box.

To model the situation with WMP try to build the following graph:
WM ASF Reader ->ffdshow MPEG-4 Video Decoder->Video Renderer.
If it is played, your file has to be played with WMP too.

One more thing, try to uninstall native DIVX decoder to ensure the fault doesn't stem from one presents.

If it doesn't work please upload us a sample of your file (10-15Mb).

Hi John,

To play ASF files wilt third-party content by WMP 7.0 and higher one should has an approperated decoder installed as DMO or VCM. Well, if you have installed ffdshow decoder (it is VCM) your files should be properly played by WMP.
