Video Splitter / Re: Problem with saving a clip
« on: January 15, 2010, 07:53:21 PM »
Hi Dmitry,

I tried to reply in PM, but I received an error that "I was not allowed to".

File has been uploaded as "Dann-Shannyn..."

To reproduce the crash, open the file, press Right-arrow twice, Add marker, cut off the end of the movie, and then Trim.

Apologies for the content.

Hi Dmitry,

I have a 10MB file that I can send to your ftp which easily reproduces a trimming error with HRESULT: 8007000d. Please email ftp login info.

Video Splitter / Suggestions for Video Splitter
« on: June 22, 2007, 03:48:44 PM »
This is an excellent product, and I have a few ideas for small improvements in a future version.

I was processing videos, saving them in a different output directory. The program happily kept track of the separate Input and Output directories so that I didn't have to keep switching them -- which is great. However, once I closed the program and restarted it, both directories defaulted to the same location. If you could save both paths in the program's restored 'state', that would be ideal.

In many cases, the video file already has the name I want the final edited version to have. An option to keep the original name instead of appending "Trimmed" would be handy. If the input/output directories are different, there are already no naming conflicts for doing this. If the directories are the same, rather than an error message stating that it cannot be done, perhaps you could rename the original file with something like "- Original" before processing, so that the output file can have the orginal name. Or even a choice to send the original file to the recycle bin after processing.

It would be helpful if the program saved the window size and the maximized state when it was restarted. I usually wanted a larger video preview.

Sometimes I deleted marks by accident. This was usually caused by pressing 'Delete' when I intended to press 'D'. Could we get an "Undo" feature to restore deleted marks?

The only problem I experienced with the program, was that it would occasionally get into a state where the video preview would not render. Neither play, nor dragging the slider would update the preview window, and I had to reload the video again to restore correct operation. I have been trying to track down a reproducible scenario to make this happen, but so far have not been successful. I believe that it may have something to do with task switching away from the program and coming back to it, but again, I can't make it happen "on demand" yet. Maybe you have already encountered this issue and have a fix for it. Otherwise, I will try to provide more information when I can find it. In the meantime, perhaps the fact that it requires "reloading the video" to restore correct behavior will be a clue as to what the problem might be.

Video Splitter / Any chance of .mpg support in Video Splitter?

Thank you for writing the Video Splitter. This is the best program of its type that I have seen! Great navigation operations and fast program response make editing tasks very quick and easy.

I have some .mpg files that also need trimming, and after many attempts to search for a product similar to Video Splitter that does lossless editing, I cannot find anything. Is there any chance you might be adding .mpg format support in a future version? Or are you familiar with any other products that will do lossless mpg editing?
