Hello CharlesC,

Please try to use version 4.5 beta of Video Splitter. It should fix issues you have reported.

Please let us know how it works at your end.

Hello Olga,
I see that there is a version release now that appears to have some fixes and/or functionality for avi files.  Main points highlighted below. Most of the problem avi files did have mp3 audio.

Maybe this will sort out some of the editing problems I've experienced and reported since May 2014.  As you know from the history below, I've not been able to use the program successfully from day 1 for the avi files that I bought it for.

Could you please upgrade my v4 license to v5?  At this point I'm not particularly keen to purchase an upgrade at 50% discount.  My email address is in my profile.

Thank you.

Fixes (Trimming):
Audio out of sync on output AVI files with MP3 audio
Slow motion of video playback and partly no sound on trimmed AVI file with MP3 audio

Olga, the issues detailed below are to my best knowledge unresolved. The first problem on some older avi files was identified in May last year, the second in June last year.

With both 'problem' files,  the old open source program VirtualDub (versions of which have been around for a long, long time) had no trouble in editing the files correctly.

I purchased SolveigMM Video Splitter specifically because it said it could handle avi files, and gave the impression that it could do this easily.

Can you please give me an update on these apparently unresolved issues?

Thanks

Olga, I must admit I am disappointed with my experience in using SolveigMM.  I purchased it a couple of months ago to handle what I thought would be straightforward tasks in editing files, in particular avi ones.

I have tried to use it for two main tasks so far, detailed below, and in both cases it has had problems.  As mentioned, when I went back to using the open source program  VirtualDub, which has been around for many, many years, it successfully did the job.

I purchased the program in May, it is now almost the end of July.  To my knowledge, neither of the problems has been fixed yet.  Can you please give a status update of where the situation currently is at?  I thought avi files were one of the file types that SolveigMultimedia specialised in.

Hello CharlesC,

Thank you a lot for file you have uploaded.

I've reproduced the same issue with slow motion of video and no sound at the end of the payback.

As soon as there will be any news regarding fixing of this bug, I'll post here.

Thanks Olga.  The link to the file is below.  Please let me know when you have it, and I'll then remove it again.
I tried the new Beta on it, no difference.

To confirm what the problem was. When I save the file out after setting the audio to the 2nd choice of English (the whole file selected, no trimming at all), the resulting file ends up with video and English audio, correct.  But the video seems to play slowly.  The audio sounds like it is at the correct speed.  Strange.

Anyway, hopefully you will see the problem for yourself.

Well I have another problem that can most likely be added to your 'to do' list.

I have 100+ avi files that need their primary audio stream changed to the secondary one.  Open the file, select Audio 2, Save As avi.  SolveigMM produces a final avi that appears to have the video running almost in slow motion.  The audio sounds like it is OK.  Then towards the end of the file the audio appears to not be there.

Again, using VirtualDub the same steps are handled with ease.  Select Audio 2, Video 'Direct Stream Copy', a final file is produced quickly.

I'll upload an example of one of the files (from a TV Series) and maybe you can test it.  I don't know if there are any special settings that need to be used in SolveigMM, I can try those if needed.

I was wondering if there was an update on this?

I have some further editing to do and would like to use SolveigMM to do it, rather than keep using VirtualDub.
