Hello Dwight,
Thank you for your file. I checked it and probably found the reason - this issue happens with external subtitles when you have a collapsed interval and try to push the "Play" button. After that the subtitles disappear.

We'll post here when the fixed version will be ready.

Hi Max.

I thought I granted access to everyone with a link yesterday. Don't know why it didn't work but I've done it again so hopefully it will work for you now.

Also, a little more information. Some video files require me to actually trim a section of the video and click the hide arrows before the subtitles disappear so it varies a little bit and I have no idea why.

I'm using version 8.0.2403.26 running on Windows 11 Pro.

Thank you,
Dwight

Olga,

Here is a Hypercam sample: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1nGtCAnWSZPYSL6ChrJVsPUnP2UyumKNX

Note that the video file initially shows the external subtitles as I scroll through the on-screen timeline. But when the cursor is moved back near the beginning of the segment and the play button is clicked the subtitles disappear.

The only way to bring them back that I have found is to delete and then reload the video. But then the same thing happens again. However as I said before if I merge the video and subtitle files into one single file this problem does not occur.

Thanks,
Dwight

Hello Dwight,

Unfortunately we have not reproduced the issue with editing of your file with subtitles at our end.

Please let us know the details of your actions and what happens with Video Splitter after each action.

Or, it will be very helpful for us if you could record your actions in Video Splitter and the issue that you have with any screen capturing software. For example you can use HyperCam.
You can download it here:

https://www.solveigmm.com/en/products/hypercam/

Thank you in advance.

Hi Olga,

Yes, this occurs in the latest version (8.0.2403.26). When the file is first loaded the external subtitles show, but as soon as an edit is done they disappear. If the saved project is loaded, the subtitles appear briefly but then disappear. Here is your link to the uploaded files: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RHcQp7u_Kg0i7DqB0d9mi6gzhuT7nvhw. This file is only an example of what occurs frequently with other files I have recently edited. If I use MKVToolnix and combine the files, the (internal) subtitles continue to show in the preview window during editing.

Thank you,
Dwight

Hello Dwight,

Thank you for your post.

Do you use the latest version of Video Splitter available for download here?

https://www.solveigmm.com/en/products/video-splitter/

If there will be the issue with the latest version, then could you please send us the original input file that you open in Video Splitter? You can upload it to any file sharing service, e.g. Google drive (https://drive.google.com) or Dropbox.com.

Here is the guideline on how to upload files if needed.

In version 8, after loading a MKV video and selecting streams for preview and trimming, including its external subtitle, the external subtitle does not show in the preview screen.
