Hi Boyd,

The normal version of the splitter doesn't allow having two versions at the same time.
But you can instal a portable version to different folders. they should operate fine.

Correction-the olde version V4 seems to work fine, and V5 will open ts files (mpeg2), but hangs on mp4/flv files. It seems the 2 dll's are the cause of the problem.
if I could extract the 2 offending dll's from the installer and put them in the V5 installation folder both should work fine I think since windows will look in the application folder first for libraries before system wide folders - at least that is how I recall how windows resolved dynamic link libraries?

OK-so I went ahead and ran the installer for V5 and told it to install in a folder SolveigMM Video Splitter Business 5, with the other version installed in SolveigMM Video Splitter Business 4, and after it noticed V4 installed it prompted to uninstall V4, which I dismissed the uninstallation prompt and the V5 installed then proceeded to install V5 in its own folder. During installation, the installer prompted me that 2 dll's av*.dll were OLDER in the V5 than what was already installed which is odd, so I kept the currently installed V4 newer dll's. It also prompted me for an xml file I think it was. Apparently these files are stored in the windows system folders? Anyhow it seems they both coexist after opening and file or 2 in each version.

Is it OK to run side by side or are the 2 dll's missing exported functions which will cause the editor to crash or misbehave.
Why are older versions of dll's installed with the newer version of the application? Seems odd almost like a mistake?

I want to have side by side installations of V4 & V5 on my workstation but when I try to install V5 and select a different installation folder it sees that V4 is installed and wants to uninstall it first, which I do not want to do. I want to be able to run either or and switch back and forth between versions. Other programs allow this-like VideoReDo. How can I accomplish this with SolveigMM Video splitter. BTW-this is the Business version.

Thanks
Boyd
