I can't process MKV files with SolveigMM Video Splitter.

I used to have similar problems with earlier versions of the Video Splitter, but all's been fine regarding this issue since, I gues, v3.6. Because of some (not so) recently introduced bugs, I'm currently still using v3.7.1308.2.Beta, which works just fine for me. As a sidenote: I, too, have K-lite Codec Pack installed, running Windows 8 x64.

Edit: The current beta fixed the bugs I mentioned.

I’ve tested MKV, MKV with DTS audio and MTS files editing on the latest version 3. 7. 1307. 26 and unfortunately have not noticed any problems in output files with sound, hanging while trimming, skipping backwards while playback in VLC and inaccurate editing. For inaccurate editing please make sure that the Frame accuracy (Smart mode) is enabled in Control menu before editing.

Please let me know if you have problems with this version.
If the problems remain could you please upload for us samples of MKV file, MKV with DTS audio and MTS file? You can use any file host service, e.g. dropbox.com.
Please send for all these files the project files (File -> Save project as).

After extensive testing I am sorry to report that the problem remains. As with the previous beta, I get the exact same hanging at 0% resulting in the program eventually crashing and a resulting file which cannot be reproduced or has skipping/audio problems. Basically the EXACT SAME thing that happened with SolveigMM_Video_Splitter_3_7_1306_21_Beta, only SolveigMM_Video_Splitter_3_6_1306_21 seems to process it fine. It is obvious that for some reason the latest beta versions of the splitter cannot trim/process some type of mkv files of this kind correctly. As I've said before I get the same thing when I try to process the OTHER mkv file with the DTS sound too so that doesn't look like an isolated case for that particular mkv file.

By the way, I've tried to trim some .mts tv recordings and I've noticed that the edits weren't accurate i.e the output video wasn't trimmed at the frames I had set it to, keeping stuff I had set it to cut. Is this known/expected behaviour? Could it be corrected? I just thought I'd let you know/ask you since you seem to currently working on improvements.

Unfortunately I’ve not reproduced on beta version problem with video which skips backwards every few seconds and there is sound on all output files.
Please let us know where you playback your file. If you use player, please specify its version.

So it will be very helpful for us if you upload the original file to reproduce this problem.

As for MKV files with DTS audio, I have audio on such files. The audio wave is built maybe slow after the opening, but it builds and there is sound on the playback.

Please try to install K-lite codec pack, possibly this will help.

Thanks for the reply and for looking at the issue. After trying the latest beta you've suggested I can confirm the freezing problem I've reported is resolved. It really occurred in most of the mkv files I've tried to process so I guess many users will be benefited from the fix. Well done.

Is this beta version stable enough to use / improved over 3.6.1306.21?
I am asking because I ran into problems with a video file last one had no problems encoding.
What happened is splitting process taking unnatural lengths of time then when it was eventually done, the result was a video which would skip backwards every few seconds + without sound at all.
As I mentioned this only occurs at this beta.

In the meantime, both versions had trouble handling a high quality video with DTS audio.
This mkv loads fine into Video Splitter BUT without the audio, audio waveform is a straight line = silence. Maybe there's a codec missing that would allow Video Splitter to properly handle DTS? Is there a workaround over it?

I am emailing you Mediainfo logs for both of these videos. Your initial interest suggests you are dedicated in improving the program so I'd be glad to help.

The problem was reproduced with 3.6.1306.21 version from the website.

Alright, I have emailed you a problematic example link at support(at)solveigmm(dot)com since I saw you encourage other users to send samples there.
For your own reference I have included:

a. The original source mkv file (I've found one which is only 182 mb).
b. The output freezing fragment created by Video Splitter. (This one stucks after 2-3 seconds approximately)
c. The .ssp project file

I hope it helps and you are able to locate and fix the problem.

If Video Splitter creates output files with freezing from the new fragment that you can create then you can send us this new fragment.

No, the problem occurs when trying to play the output fragment both with VLC and Windows Media Player. I just tried playing the fragment in Video Splitter itself and it is playing fine there which obviously doesn't help much if you cannot play the output videos with two of the industry standard players while I don't seem to get this problem with other editors as I've said.

Yes. Do you mean the output fragment created with Video Splitter that gets stuck when played in the video players OR the original input video I've created the fragment output video from? Cause in the second case the file is close to 1 GB. Yet if that's what you want I could try make a NEW fragment from the fragment  I originally wanted to keep and had no problem cutting with some other editor.

Doesn't SolveigMM Video Splitter properly work with mkv files? I am in search of a good all-purpose loseless editor (I currently try various products) and while I like Video Splitter's interface I can't get over the fact that with every mkv file I have tried I end up with a segment in which the video freezes during the first two seconds while the audio keeps playing normally. VLC doesn't have a problem playing output segments from the same video sources in question so there must be something wrong with the way Video Splitter handles mkvs or a setting or something. Is there a workaround for this? I use the latest version.
