Hello keiooz,

If you would like to update you can simply install the new version, the older version will be uninstalled while the installation process.

> Can I uninstall the old version and install the new one?

There is no such feature to have 2 versions installed on your PC. But you can install the older version as the portable (check "Create portable installation on removable or network disk" while installtion) and the newer as the standard, so you will have two versions.

Hello Mark,

Quote
It starts off by saying there's a problem copying or something with the "uninstall.exe". When I start the program it won't accept my license and comes up with lots of things not found.

The reason could be that your antivirus software blocks installation process for some reasons. Could you tell which one you use with version? we will check why.

Is there a way to totally remove all the Solveig installed stuff including codecs, registry etc?

First you should correctly install software to uninstall it correctly.
Here is instructions how to do this.
1. reboot computer.
2. disable antivirusprotection.
3. Run installation package and follow instructions. If it fails on uninstallation of previous version  - ignore it.
4. After installation finished check that there is no SolveigMM Video Splitter instances running. If so close it.
5. Run uninstall from the start menu under Solveig Multimedia -> SolveigMM Video Splitter folder

Now I've found that my HD WMV files won't load any more. It says the files are corrupted (it said this before) and asks to index them.
Could you upload some where one of such files, to reproduce the crash.  We will check that.

Quote
Although it does load some files alright. All my HD WMV files won't load any more when they used to yesterday (although it said they were corrupted). They all play alright in WMP and load in other video edit programs.

Players software are intended to play file anyway even if it is corrupted.
For correct editing Splitter accepts only valid wmv files. if files is corrupted it is not guaranties that trimming will be ok. But you can try.

I had a look and there isn't an entry for Solveig or VideoSplitter! Nothing in Program Uninstaller either?

I noticed there was a later version so I downloaded that. This was a little different in that it seemed to try to uninstall the previous version but then asked to reboot the PC to finish but didn't complete the installation programs so I had to force them to be closed? After reloading I had the same problem again when installing saying it could copy the Uninstall file although it didn't throw a wobbly when I went into the program and activated it.

However, having done that it seems to be worse now. Now I've found that my HD WMV files won't load any more. It says the files are corrupted (it said this before) and asks to index them. I cancel the index and it crashes:

Problem Event Name:   APPCRASH
  Application Name:   SMMVSplitter.exe
  Application Version:   3.0.1203.14
  Application Timestamp:   4f607a04
  Fault Module Name:   StackHash_75de
  Fault Module Version:   6.1.7601.17514
  Fault Module Timestamp:   4ce7ba58
  Exception Code:   c0000374
  Exception Offset:   000ce653
  OS Version:   6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1

Although it does load some files alright. All my HD WMV files won't load any more when they used to yesterday (although it said they were corrupted). They all play alright in WMP and load in other video edit programs.

If I let it "index" it it spends ages doing that and then says something about verifying the file and then asks to index it again and so on. The only way out is to cancel it and then it crashes.

Have my WMV codecs been messed up? Although they seem to play alright?

Is there a way to totally remove all the Solveig installed stuff including codecs, registry etc?

Thanks
Mark

I've recently upgraded from version 2 to 3 and had repeated problems installing the new version. Even installing the latest release of V3 I get the same problem.

It starts off by saying there's a problem copying or something with the "uninstall.exe". When I start the program it won't accept my license and comes up with lots of things not found.

If I install it again the uninstall fails but it works ok after that? Happens every time.

Any ideas?
