Hello Moose,

Could you please try to use the beta version of Video Splitter available from:

http://solveigmm.com/download/SolveigMM_Video_Splitter_3_7_Beta.exe

If the problem remains with this version, could you please upload for us file that you have tried to edit (when it locks up on trimming)?

You can use any file host service, e.g. filedropper.com or dropbox.com

Also please send us the project file. Select fragments for saving then go to File -> Save project as. You can send this to support(at)solveigmm(dot)com.
Also please record log files. Here is how to get them:
http://www.solveigmm.com/en/faq/how-to-record-log-files-for-hypercam-3/

If you can reproduce with the program start up, then also please record log files and send to us. Below are the steps on how to get them:

1) Download and unpack the archieve: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18960201/LoggingForSplitter.zip
2) Launch "EnableLOG.reg".
2) Launch Video Splitter.
3) After the lock up happens, go to "My documents -> Solveig Multimedia -> Logs" and send us please the content of this folder.
5) To disable log files recording launch"DisableLOG.reg" file.

Thank you in advance.

I have been trying to use they very latest version of SolveigMM Video Splitter v3_6_1301_16 under Windows 7 Pro (64 bit), and it is horribly unstable.  This is on a nearly brand new HP Elitebook laptop (8 GB RAM).

So far there is no rhyme or reason to the instability: the program very frequently locks up when it starts up, it very frequently locks up when writing a trimmed video out again.  AVIs, MP4s, etc, all can have the same instabilities / lockups.  One video can work fine one time, but lock up SolveigMM Video Splitter the next I load it.  When the program locks up, it might take 5-10 or more close downs / re-runs before it will then finally run again.

I am happy to supply any more details you need, provide sample videos (although the instabilities / lockups can happen to every video I have tried - dozens), and/or I am happy to run a special debug version of SolveigMM Video Splitter on my machine if you need to gather run-time information, or run any tools you want to get to the bottom of this.
